In Mercer, Venango, Forest, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson, Armstrong, and Indiana counties, as well as Higher Elevations of Indiana, the National Weather Service issued an updated special weather statement at 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday that will remain in force until 10 p.m.

As a storm passes across the area this evening, there is a chance of scattered snow showers. Certain snow showers will create a fast layer of snow and cut visibility to less than 0.5 miles. Road temperatures stay mainly above freezing, but heavier snowfall may cause accumulations on the roads, causing temperatures to drop below freezing. If driving this evening, drivers should be ready for shifting road conditions and visibility. The weather service says, “Changes in visibility and slick roads with snow showers may lead to accidents.”

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
