According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams are prepared to spend money in order to trade wide receiver Cooper Kupp. On Monday, Kupp said that the Rams had told him he will be traded, sparking rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers might be the team to sign him.

Any deal for Kupp would be complicated by the $7.5 million bonus he is due. However, according to Rapoport, the Rams are prepared to forgo a portion of that compensation.

According to Rapoport, the Rams are at least prepared to forgo a portion of the funds, possibly paying down the $7.5 million signing bonus, much of which is guaranteed to Kupp. This might lessen the financial strain on an acquiring team and facilitate a trade.

Kupp has struggled with injuries ever since he had an incredible season with 2000 receiving yards. Due to recurring ailments, he had missed more than 12 games. Due to a major ankle sprain this season, he missed almost half of the season.

In 2024, Kupp played primarily in the slot, recording over 450 snaps there as opposed to only over 100 outside. He is an excellent blocker, though. However, Kupp has had injuries throughout his career, which is becoming a major problem as he begins to slow down as he ages. The Steelers have the space to accept Kupp’s contract, so they should still be involved.
