On Tuesday morning, a crash involving four vehicles occurred on the Missouri River Bridge near Jefferson City. The accident left one person injured and caused a major traffic disruption during the morning rush hour.
According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the crash happened at 7:29 a.m. in the westbound lanes. The collision involved several vehicles, including a 2007 Chevy Silverado, a Ford Explorer, a Chevrolet S10, and a Toyota RAV4.
The incident began when David Hernandez, 42, from Holts Summit, was driving his Chevy Silverado and hit the back of a Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer was being driven by Jeremiah Welling, 44, from Jefferson City.
Welling’s vehicle then struck the rear of a Chevrolet S10, driven by Jeffrey Iler, 46, from Fulton. This chain reaction continued when Iler’s vehicle hit the back of a Toyota RAV4 driven by Rebecca Craighead, 52, from New Bloomfield.
As a result of the crash, Iler suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The other drivers were not injured.
Due to the severity of the damage, three of the four vehicles involved in the crash had to be towed from the scene. Police officers quickly responded to the incident to manage the flow of traffic, but delays were inevitable during the busy morning commute.
