Jefferson County Resident in Custody Following Accusations of Fatally Attacking Roommate

After reportedly shooting and killing his roommate on Saturday, February 24, a man in Jefferson County has been placed under arrest. A man called the Jeffcom Communications Center that day at 3:42 PM to report that he had been involved in a shooting near the 4700 block of Parmalee Gulch Road, according to a news statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies saw Knapp in the driveway of the house when they arrived at the scene, and they arrested him. After searching the house, they found a dead adult male victim who had been shot. Monday morning was Knapp’s planned initial court appearance in the matter. The inquiry is still ongoing.

Colorado pays about $4,623 for every individual who commits a crime, with homicide being the most expensive crime, according to a 2023 Common Sense Institute analysis. After Denver, Adams, and El Paso counties, Jefferson County ranked fourth in terms of crime in 2022 with over 42,600 offenses committed in a year. The rate of crime in Jefferson County is 107% higher than the state average.
