Boston Tristan Jarry made 31 stops, Philip Tomasino scored the game-winning goal in the third period, and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Friday.

After the Bruins failed to clear the puck, Tomasino skated in from the left circle to score his first goal of the season with 12:34 left. With less than a second left in the second period, Rickard Rakell of Pittsburgh scored his eighth goal of the season.

Boston’s Jeremy Swayman had 34 saves and Charlie Coyle scored.

Taking advantage of a breakdown in the Pittsburgh zone, Coyle scored his fifth goal of the season 1:24 into the match. At the start of the third period, the Bruins were within eight tenths of a second of winning 1-0, but Rakell tied the score under the Boston net when Sidney Crosby fed him.
