At 4:50 am on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory that will be in effect for Northern Wayne and Southern Wayne, Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Pike counties, from 7 am to 9 pm on Thursday.
“West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph expected,” the weather service said. “On Thursday morning, there is a chance of snow showers, squalls, and short gusts of wind. After that, the winds will turn west and get stronger throughout the day, reaching their highest gusts on Thursday afternoon. Additionally, winds will cause snow to fly and drift where accumulations occur.
“Unsecured objects will be buffeted by gusty gusts. According to the weather service, there may be a few power outages and tree branches that are blown down. Strong winds like these can make driving challenging, particularly for well-known cars. Be especially careful.
