The city of PhiladelphiaThe players had a difficult Monday defensive film session following Sunday’s defeat by the Washington Commanders. After they were unable to maintain pressure, linebacker Nakobe Deans sat with his teammates and watched Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels make another late comeback while criticizing his defense. Daniels carefully cut through the defense, which led to a 4-yard touchdown reception by wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus.
In Sunday’s defeat to the Commanders, the Eagles did not appear to be the league’s top defense. Nonetheless, they are optimistic that a better performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field would result from the discussions they had in the fourth quarter about their numerous problems.
According to Dean, a few guys expressed their feelings, the need for us to improve, and the hurt caused by numerous things, including the small fines. We must eliminate the penalties because we received far more than we are accustomed to. Additionally, we must maintain our highest level of confidence and ensure that we are not kept low following the defeat.
It wasn’t just the players that accepted responsibility for the defeat. As the Commanders converted seven of their thirteen third downs in the fourth quarter, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio took responsibility and said his play calls should have been better.
Fangio stated, “We gave up too many explosive plays.” They struck us with two large ones in a single drive. It is a component of the equation. On third down, we didn’t have a great day. That is an additional component of the equation. Additionally, there was field position, where they occasionally had to cover shorter distances. We simply didn’t play as well as we had been playing overall.

Fangio is still optimistic that his defense will recover even if he let the Commanders amass 368 yards of offensive output.
Fangio stated, “I think they will, considering what happened on Sunday.” The group is strong. You have to be able to recover after winning so many consecutive games, and I think our team will.
The Cowboys, who have won four of their past five games, will present the Eagles with the opportunity to do so. The two teams faced up in Week 10, and the Cowboys were restricted to 49 net passing yards. Since then, they have replaced an injured Dak Prescott with quarterback Cooper Rush, averaging 235.2 passing yards per game.
According to Fangio, they have been playing incredibly well over the past five games. The ball is being moved by them. With Rush at quarterback, I believe they’ve found their niche and are performing well. They’re doing a great job running it and combining the boots and play pass. CeeDee Lamb is undoubtedly having a stellar year. Jake Ferguson, their tight end, is good, and Rico Dowdle, their back, has been playing well lately. The offense we witnessed is not the same as this one.
Since the Eagles’ most recent game against the Cowboys, Dean has observed a change in the team.
According to Dean, they are playing together more easily. They’re producing far more plays now. Their players are playing as they should, being their guys. They have undoubtedly improved.
Cornerback rookieLamb can be disruptive if left unchecked, but Cooper DeJeanal already has experience covering him, having held him to two catches for one yard in their last game.
DeJean remarked, “He’s really good.” His downfield catches will be eliminated if he is tackled when he gets the ball in his hands, but he will still get his catches. Since he can do a number of unique things when he receives the ball, taking those away is incredibly crucial. We must be capable of tackling him.
