The Hanover Evening Sun reports that Wawa is seeking to open a shop in the Gettysburg area, following the recent openings of its first two locations in Central Pennsylvania, with a third anticipated later this week.

Over the next few years, the convenience store business, which is extremely well-liked in Philadelphia and New Jersey, plans to open about 40 locations in the heart of Pennsylvania.

A proposed 6,000-square-foot store and gas station on the intersection of Gateway Boulevard and Route 30, just northeast of Gettysburg, is Wawa’s next goal, according to minutes from the Straban Township Planning Commission, as reported by the Evening Sun.

According to the Evening Sun, the new location, which would be in the Gateway Gettysburg condominium complex, is expected to receive permission from the planning commission in late December or early January.

In September, the first Wawa location in Central Pennsylvania opened its doors on Harrisburg Pike in Lower Swatara Township. Last week, a second location opened in Dover, York County, and a third location in East Pennsboro Township is anticipated to open this week.
