In the Orange Bowl matchup with Notre Dame, Penn State did not achieve the desired outcome.

The Fighting Irish advanced to the national championship game in Atlanta on January 20 after rallying for a 27-24 victory over the Nittany Lions in their semifinal.

The Irish made the key plays late, turning a late interception by PSU quarterback Drew Allarin into the game-winning field goal, despite Penn State having numerous opportunities to defeat Notre Dame.

It was a challenging way to cap off a season with 13 victories.

However, following the game, Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN college football commentator, had a message for Penn State supporters.

Joe Hermitt, a photojournalist for PennLive, interviewed Herbstreit on the field. He thinks the Lions will return to the postseason soon and that James Franklin’s program is on the right track.

According to Herbstreit, PSU supporters should be really proud of their team because they had an amazing season.

This is one of those games where, as I mentioned in the pregame, there will likely be a crucial late turnover that determines the result.

Because the game was so close, that’s what actually happened.

“I feel awful for Drew (Allar), he played really well, not just tonight, but all year,” Herbstreit continued.

However, he has the opportunity; hopefully, he will return. Penn State will return. James is performing admirably. There was only one possession left.
