Radar showed a strong lake effect snow band at 6:30 p.m. along a line that ran from close to Mentor-On-The-Lake to six miles southeast of Conneaut to the northeast. This strong snow belt caused by the lake effect was almost motionless. In large portions of Erie County, northern Ashtabula, and eastern Lake, travel is either impossible or extremely difficult. The meteorological service reports that significant portions of I-90 and US 20 have been closed in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
The following locations are affected by the alert: North East, Madison, Girard, North Kingsville, Perry, Waterford, Albion, Timberlake, Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Edinboro, Geneva, Painesville, Ashtabula, Conneaut, Fairport Harbor, Geneva-On-The-Lake, and Wattsburg. This evening, travel is severely discouraged in parts of Erie County, northern Ashtabula County, and eastern Lake County.
