At 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued an updated weather notice for Mercer, Venango, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson, and Armstrong counties, predicting snow showers until 2 p.m.
“Lake enhanced snow showers will continue to impact the region this afternoon, resulting in a quick coating of snow and visibilities below 0.5 miles at times,” according to the National Weather Service.
New Castle, Hermitage, Butler, Oil City, Grove City, Franklin, Clarion, Sharpsville, Kittanning, Knox, Rimersburg, Homeacre-Lyndora, Greenville, Sugarcreek, Farrell, Shanor-Northvue, Meridian, Slippery Rock, and Ford City are among the establishments affected by the alert. The following roads are included in this: Pennsylvania’s Interstate 79 between mile markers 92 and 137. Pennsylvania’s Interstate 80 between mile marks 0 and 71. Pennsylvania’s Interstate 376 between mile marks 0 and 18. If you have to drive into or through this heavy snowfall, go with additional caution. Accidents are likely to occur due to slick roads and abrupt changes in visibility. Think about postponing your trip until the squall passes by. Because snow melts on roads and then swiftly refreezes, conditions can quickly deteriorate throughout winter, potentially leading to icy roads. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. When traveling, slow down and give yourself more time.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
