At 8:26 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated weather notice for Jefferson, Armstrong, and Indiana counties, as well as Higher Elevations of Indiana, predicting snow showers through 9:30 a.m.
“At 8:26 a.m., Doppler radar tracked snow showers along a line from 7 miles north of Kittanning to 8 miles southeast of Reynoldsville, or along a line from 7 miles north of Kittanning to 8 miles east of Punxsutawney, moving southeast at 25 mph,” according to the weather bureau.
Indiana, Punxsutawney, Clymer, Sykesville, East Brady, Rural Valley, Big Run, Dayton, Chevy Chase Heights, Rossiter, Ernest, Marion Center, Cherry Tree, Creekside, Plumville, Glen Campbell, Timblin, Atwood, Dixonville, and Commodore are among the places affected by the alert.
“Keep a close eye on the weather situation and be on the lookout for potentially dangerous weather conditions,” advises the weather service. During these snow showers, visibility will rapidly decrease to less than half a mile. It is feasible to quickly apply up to half an inch of snow. Roads can quickly get covered in snow.
