At 9:37 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued an updated weather notice for lake effect snow in Northern Centre and Southern Centre, as well as Clearfield and Snyder counties, through 10:15 a.m.

“At 9:35 a.m., a lake effect snow band was along a line extending from 10 miles northeast of Clearfield to 13 miles northeast of Lewistown and moving east at 25 MPHfor those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the Kylertown and Lamar exits from mile markers 133 to 164 this includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 77 to 85,” according to the weather service.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service continues. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to go through or into this lake effect snow belt, proceed with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
