At 8:24 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued an updated weather notice for Southern Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, and Luzerne counties, predicting heavy snow through 9 a.m.
The weather service reported that “a band of heavy snow was near Falls, or near Pittston moving east at 25 MPH” at 8:24 a.m.
Scranton, Falls, Dunmore, Old Forge, Pittston, Archbald, Blakely, Taylor, Dickson City, and Moosic are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: Pennsylvania The stretch of Interstate 81 between 175 to 194. Between 1 and 4, Interstate 84. Interstate 476 from 115 to 131; Interstate 380 from 20 to 24.
“If you have to travel into or through this band of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather service cautions. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
