At 5:13 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated weather notice for lake effect snow in Northern Erie and Southern Erie, as well as Crawford County, through 6:45 p.m.

“At 5:12 p.m., radar indicated an intense lake effect snow band along a line extending from near Findley Lake to near Chardon to 6 miles east of Sandusky, moving southeast at 10 mph,” according to the meteorological service.

Cleveland, Erie, Lorain, Elyria, Painesville, Ashtabula, Willowick, Western Vermilion, Chardon, Fairport Harbor, Geneva-On-The-Lake, Parma, Lakewood, Euclid, Mentor, Cleveland Heights, Strongsville, and Westlake are among the places affected by the alert. If you have to go through or into this lake effect snow belt, proceed with additional caution. Accidents are likely to occur due to slick roads and abrupt changes in visibility. Think about postponing your trip until this snow band passes by.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
