Pittsburgh –Against the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers guard Spencer Anderson may get the most important opportunity of his early career. Anderson started four games earlier in the season, but that is little compared to what it would mean to start a postseason game.
Mason McCormick, the starting right guard, was sidelined for the whole week of practice after breaking his left hand against the Cincinnati Bengals. Even if McCormick is active, that could mean Anderson gets the nod.
It’s been a long time, of course,” Anderson added. However, you must always be prepared when your number is called since things might happen throughout a game and you need to be prepared.
Bowie, Maryland, which is only 45 minutes outside of Baltimore, is where Anderson grew up. But he grew up rooting for the Dallas Cowboys rather than the Ravens. However, Anderson might have a homecoming in this game, and if McCormick is unable to play, it would be a great start for him.
Anderson will be on standby and McCormick will be hindered if he is able to participate. Although McCormick took Anderson’s spot, it’s evident that his rise has continued despite his promising debut season.
“He’s been great, Mason,” Anderson remarked. It goes without saying that some people could say, “Hey, aren’t you upset or sad about (being replaced)?” but, well, no. That kind of reaction is immature. That isn’t truly being a good athlete, a good teammate, or a decent person. I’m not that kind of person.
In order to ascertain the functionality of that hand, McCormick may do a pregame warmup as part of the Steelers’ pregame strategy. His ability to play is in doubt, and the Steelers do not want to risk him if he cannot use both hands effectively.
