After social media users accused the gold medalist of falsifying her degrees, Gabby Thomas is not taking any heat from bullies.
One user commented on Thomas in a post on X on January 25th, suggesting that she might not be the most intelligent person. Thomas responded shortly after.
You’re probably correct; my Harvard degree is a waste of money. It was written by Thomas.
Following that remark, a flood of individuals commented on Thomas’s schooling, claiming that, as a Black woman, she couldn’t possible be speaking the truth. Thomas responded to the comments on January 26.
According to Thomas, hundreds of individuals are leaving comments on my Twitter profile today, January 26, 2025, assuming that just because I’m black, I didn’t deserve my Harvard entrance or my degree. Is this the actual world?
Users who were repeating a similar message offered her encouragement. A user responded, “Ridiculous.” Why they would presume that is beyond me. There is nothing better for people to do.
“Wow, racist trolls are really out here proving they know nothing about excellence,” someone else said. Degrees are not awarded by Harvard. Through talent, hard work, and intelligence, you EARN them. Continue to shine.
The 2019 graduate received congratulations from Harvard for winning three gold medals at the August Olympics in Paris. Thomas received a master’s degree in public health from the University of Texas, Austin, and an Ivy League degree in neuroscience from Boston, Massachusetts, according to Harvard and herLinkedIn.
