Due to their actions during the team’s 24-19 loss to the Cleveland Browns, two Pittsburgh Steelers have been fined. Against the Browns, safety Damontae Kazee and cornerback Donte Jackson both suffered financial setbacks.
Kazee was given a la ate hit, which will cost him $11,255, for needless roughness. Kazee has already been targeted by the NFL; last season, he received a three-game suspension for a crushing hit on Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.
But the Steelers player who received the biggest sanction was Jackson. According to the NFL, Jackson struck Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman with his helmet during a play in the fourth quarter, placing the wide receiver in concussion protocol. For using the helmet, Jackson was fined $22,511.
For his altercation with Browns defensive back Greg Newsome after the game, wide receiver George Pickens was not penalized. When Browns safety Grant Delpit tore Pickens’ mouthpiece from his helmet and tossed it into the crowd, he was penalized for unsportsmanlike behavior.
