A Pennsylvania entrepreneur and Republican fundraiser has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as Sweden’s next ambassador.

Trump will attempt to secure confirmation for the 67-year-old philanthropist and businesswoman as a member of his administration for the second time by nominating Christine Jack Toretti for the position.

Toretti, a Republican National Committee member, was Trump’s choice for ambassador to Malta during his first term in office.

Christine is an amazing businesswoman, philanthropist, public servant, and RNC Committeewoman for the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social network on Friday.

The last time around, Toretti was unable to secure Senate approval. Politico claims that the high chamber rejected her nomination twice, in 2019 and 2020. Politico claims that Toretti at the time had a restraining order against her for reportedly placing a target sheet covered in bullets in her ex-husband’s doctor’s office.

Toretti was a director at the Pittsburgh Federal Reserve Bank before becoming chairwoman of S&T Bancorp.

As a board member of the International Medical Corps, Christine has been a devoted advocate for critical causes, according to Trump’s statement. In addition, she was the founding director of the Gettysburg Foundation, the director of the NCAA Foundation, and the former chair of the Andy Warhol Museum.
