PennDOT said a portion of westbound lanes of Interstate 283 in Lancaster County are being closed due to a collision involving many vehicles, including a tractor-trailer that has subsequently caught fire.

At 3:38 p.m., the crash was originally reported on 511PA.com. At 3:40 p.m., PennDOT was informed of the westbound shutdown.

According to PennDOT, westbound lanes are blocked between Spooky Nook Road and the Route 772 exit.

The PennDOT is credited.

As of 4:15 p.m., no injuries have been recorded. The number of automobiles involved in the collision and the length of time the westbound lanes will be stopped are unknown.

After the tractor-trailer was put out with water, Lancaster County maintenance is on its way to treat the road, according to PennDOT. PennDOT verified that there was no snow or ice on the freeway at the time of the collision.
