The AP All-Pro squad, which has always been officially acknowledged by the NFL, has three Pittsburgh Steelers players on it. Kicker Chris Boswell, defensive lineman Cam Heyward, and outside linebacker T.J. Watt all received recognition; Heyward and Boswell were named to the First Team All-Pro team.
Being named a First-Team All-Pro for the first time in his career, Boswell is the only kicker in Steelers history to do so. This season, he went 41 of 44 and made all 35 of his extra-point tries. Since Brandon Aubrey, the second-closest kicker, was not very close, Boswell easily won the honor.
Heyward receives his fourth first-team honor and fifth selection. This distinction probably signifies the end of Heyward’s Hall of Fame career. Heyward is the oldest defensive tackle to be selected to the First Team All-Pro list during the Super Bowl era.
Watt was named to the Second Team All-Pro even though he had a poor season by his standards and 11.5 sacks. He continues to add another distinction to his already assured Hall of Fame career.
Center Zach Frazier, linebacker Patrick Queen, cornerback Joey Porter Jr., safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, punt returner Calvin Austin III, special teamers Miles Killebrew and James Pierre, and long snapper Christian Kuntz were among the other Steelers who were not selected but were still given votes.
