Rodgers was smiling for a purpose. After surrendering just three catches for 18 yards and a score in his second start of the season in last week’s victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Rodgers shown that he is still capable of playing at a starting level. Quinyon Mitchell was selected as the Week 1 starter against the Green Bay Packers, thus this wasn’t immediately anticipated.
Nevertheless, Rodgers has filled in for cornerback Darius Slay during Slay’s games due to a variety of injuries, playing more defensive snaps than expected during the regular season. In addition to making him a dependable option off the bench, Rodgers’ consistent play has positioned him for a possible payout in the offseason as he approaches free agency.

Sirianni cited Rodgers’ influence on plays like altering a kick by Ravens kicker Justin Tucker on a field goal attempt or deflecting a throw that safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson intercepted.

Vic Fangio, the defensive coordinator, echoed those thoughts but pointed out areas for development.
Fangio stated, “I believe he has good cover ability when he does it right.” Sometimes he can be careless with his technique, and it costs him. He does, however, have good talent and cover ability, in my opinion. He tackles fairly well for someone who is on the smaller side of things in terms of weight.
This year’s free agency has a comparatively small class of cornerbacks, which puts the 27-year-old Rodgers in a good position to not only start but also land a big contract. Rodgers is still focused on the team’s playoff hopes despite the opportunity that lies ahead.
According to Rodgers, you must always be aware of the ultimate objective. I want the team to win. I can’t come in there and do stupid things that will get us to where we need to go. I need to maintain my concentration and keep up with the defense.
