The Jefferson County Fair Authority is reviewing old events and considering new ones for the upcoming year.
The board discussed the possibility of holding a wine walk in April at its monthly meeting last week. The board is still discussing whether it will be held along with or as a replacement for the annual Spring Fling, which takes place on April 29, 2023. As plans are finalized, more details will be announced.
Also, the board is planning programs for the 2023 Jefferson County Fair, which will take place July 16-22.
A contract has been signed for Friday’s All American Rodeo and Saturday’s Demolition Derby. A proposal by Rich Love for a truck pull on Tuesday night during the fair has also been approved. On Wednesday night, contracts were approved for a country music concert; artists’ names will be announced later. A grandstand show on Monday and Thursday nights is being discussed by the board.

The authority approved final payments for excavation work completed during the waterline project this summer, along with a certificate of substantial completion.
During the recent military share event, waiting vehicles backed up to the interstate, the board discussed traffic flow concerns.
Among other things, the board discussed needed repairs at the fairgrounds.
