Jefferson County – Even though Christmas is weeks away, Jefferson County authorities are starting on a post-holiday tradition by announcing the details of their tree recycling program.

The program starts on December 26, 2022 and finishes on January 16, 2023.

Reclaimed lumber is used for a variety of purposes, including providing sturdy gravel, creating an erosion barrier along a shoreline, or potentially acting as bait for fish.

The county plans to use wood from discarded trees in its county parks.

County residents can turn in their trees at four different locations:

Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge, 4 Elks Drive, Crystal City, Missouri 63019

6702 Twin Rivers Road, Eureka MO 63025

We can be found at 8093 Tower Road, Hillboro, MO 63050

Courthouse Lower Parking Lot is located at 300 Main St. Hillsboro, MO 63050

The tree must be left bare before dropping it off.
