Kyron Johnson, a former pass rusher with the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed a futures contract with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, the organization announced. After training camp, Johnson was cut by the Steelers and spent the majority of the season on the Titans practice squad.
Johnson is an explosive pass rusher who is renowned for his speed and fast acceleration off the line of scrimmage. However, because of his small stature, the Steelers were hesitant to give him much of anything, and Jeremiah Moon defeated him for the team’s final edge rusher place on the active roster.
Johnson, a 2022 NFL Draft sixth-round selection from Kansas, has transformed from an off-ball linebacker to a formidable outside linebacker. The Steelers have Nick Herbig, who can be a good special team player and an efficient subpackage, despite his continued issues with his size in the run game.
After being released, the Arlington, Texas-born former Philadelphia Eagles draft pick joined the Steelers’ practice squad last year.
