This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers will want to make an impression at wide receiver. That is not surprising given that the team’s offense suffered greatly from a drab room and that they were unable to get Brandon Aiyukor, another wide receiver, to take Diontae Johnson’s place.
With young WR George Pickens in the room, team president Art Rooney II believes the team will prioritize addressing the wide receiving problem this offseason.
Rooney told Jenna Harner of WPXI, “We want to add to that room.” Last year, we tried adding a number two receiver to the room, but we weren’t quite successful. That will definitely be on the list this year.
Alongside Pickens, Van Jefferson was the team’s second wide receiver for a large portion of the season. Despite some trade rumors, Rooney seems to give some hope that Pickens is the team’s best wide receiver and can help the Steelers.
Rooney remarked, “I think George Pickens is a very talented guy.” We would like to work with him to help him realize his full potential because he hasn’t yet done so.
Pickens received a lot of coverage without a number two. Pickens was relieved of some of the strain when Calvin Austin III came out, which energized the team. In 2025, though, the Steelers must find a wide receiver room that will work well together to strengthen the offense rather than undermine it.
