BALTIMORE –Running back Najee Harris of the Pittsburgh Steelers is set to enter free agency this offseason, and the former first-round choice may find a new position. Harris hasn’t thought about his future, though, following the Steelers’ defeat over the Baltimore Ravens.

He is aware that this offseason is crucial for him because it is probably his only opportunity to enter free agency during his greatest running back years, but it also entails careful consideration and a desire to negotiate the best possible deal.

“I haven’t really thought about it,” Harris remarked.

On Saturday, Harris only had six carries for 17 yards. Since being selected in the draft out of Alabama, he has had four consecutive seasons with 1000 yards with the Steelers. Throughout the time, he is the only player that does that.

During those four years, Harris participated in every game and established himself as the Steelers’ bulwark of health and reliability despite some challenging years. His effectiveness, however, never materialized, largely because of poor offensive line play and strategy that didn’t improve over the course of the term.

Due to concerns about Harris’ compatibility with the offensive plan Arthur Smith would be bringing over from Atlanta, the Steelers rejected his fifth-year option in May.
