Following a 4-0 victory over Everton on Sunday, Ruben Amorim has restored the joy of Manchester United supporters.
During Amorim’s first Premier League game at Old Trafford, the fans sang ole late to the United players.
Compared to the jeers that echoed throughout the stadium at the end of former manager Erik ten Hag’s tenure, it represents a significant shift.
Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee each scored two goals as United put up their greatest display under Amorim, who took over last month. This was Amorim’s third game in charge across all competitions.
It’s a good outcome. We are still learning with a new coach and a new style of play, which is crucial. Rashford stated that we must support this performance.
United is in eighth place, four points outside the top four, while Amorim has not lost since taking over last month.
A week after crushing Manchester City 4-0, Tottenham drew 1-1 with Fulham, while third-place Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 3-0.
On target
Amorim has had little trouble getting United’s forwards to score.
Rashford, who previously scored four goals in 18 appearances, has now scored three goals in three games under the Portuguese.
Zirkzee’s double on Sunday was his first goal since the season’s first game, and Rasmus Hojlund scored twice in the Europa League victory over Bodo Glimt.
Prior to Ten Hag’s dismissal, United had only scored eight goals in nine league games, making goals difficult to come by.
Five minutes after Rashford started the onslaught against Everton in the 34th minute, Zirkzee doubled United’s lead. After a quick break, Zirkzee scored his second goal in the 64th minute, and Rashford added another one a minute into the second half.
Chelsea run
Chelsea’s most recent defeat of Aston Villa put them back on par with second-place Arsenal in terms of points.
Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, and Nicolas Jackson all scored goals to keep Chelsea ahead of London rival Arsenal.
In all competitions, Villa has lost five of its last eight games and is now without a victory.
Villa fell to 12th position, in the lowest half of the standings.
Spurs slip
After their thrilling triumph against City last week, Tottenham was unable to secure another victory that would have moved them closer to the top four.
In the second half, Brennan Johnson gave seventh-place Spurs the lead, but Tom Cairney, a replacement, tied the score before being sent off in the closing minutes.
