After getting a blood infection over the holidays, Mikkey Dee, the drummer for the Scorpions and former member of the iconic band Motorhead, says he is grateful to be alive.

In early December, Dee sprained his foot and was experiencing slight fever and inflammation, he told the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet. But according to Dee, his ankle swelled up like crazy right before Christmas, and it suddenly took on an odd form and appearance, resembling an overcooked ham.

That sounds vicious.

He claimed that once I became seriously unwell and had to be transported by ambulance to Sahlgrenska, they discovered that my values were extremely high and made me their top priority.

According to Dee, he ultimately had three procedures.

According to him, they removed anything that was dead, sick, and severely contaminated. My journey wasn’t going well. In heaven, I would be playing drums alongside Lemmy, the late frontman of Motorhead. That’s what I can say.

On his Facebook page, he also talked to fans about his health issue.

He wrote, “I just wanted to write a brief statement about what has been happening to me over the last three weeks.” First of all, I would want to express my gratitude to everyone for their kind Christmas and New Year’s greetings, to which I have been unable to reply. Every year, I make an effort to do that.

He said, “I have been admitted to the hospital this holiday season due to a very serious blood infection (sepsis).” After three weeks in the hospital, I’m back at home battling this dreadful bacteria. Fortunately, the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in my hometown of Gothenburg has provided me with excellent care. I therefore want to express my gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses who have been providing me with the best treatment possible. Now that I’m home after multiple surgeries, the numbers are all trending upward. I still have a lot of rehab and rehabilitation ahead of me.

Dee went on to say that he is trying to get back to full strength before the Scorpions’ February 27 residency in Las Vegas.

He wrote: “We have a fantastic 2025 ahead of us, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting gigs around the world.” Now that the Stinger is out, I can’t wait to see you all on the road and have a great time! I hope everyone has a great year in 2025, full of rock ‘n’ roll and excellent health.
