Mason McCormick, a rookie offensive guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers, broke his left hand during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. To find out if his functioning will be sufficient to play, McCormick will practice this week while wearing a cast or brace. Spencer Anderson will start for the Steelers at right guard if he is unable to play.
Despite having started since Week 5, McCormickhas is James Daniels’ replacement. Daniels is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a torn Achilles tendon.
If Anderson had to play in place of McCormick this weekend, it wouldn’t be his first time. He has some experience, but it was on the other side of the line, having started in guard Isaac Seumalo’s stead when he was hurt earlier this season.
Along with McCormick, Cam Heyward may be limited during practice early in the week due to the flu, while cornerback Donte Jackson may miss this game due to a back condition he is still dealing with.
