At 6:37 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service published a forecast for Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, and Fayette counties that called for snow showers through 7:15 a.m.
“At 6:37 a.m., Doppler radar tracked snow showers along a line from over Weirton to over Gastonville, moving southeast at 20 mph,” the weather service said.
Bethel Park, McMurray, Weirton, Steubenville, Washington, Canonsburg, Avella, Gastonville, Upper St. Clair, South Park Township, Cecil-Bishop, Jefferson Hills, Monessen, Bridgeville, Donora, Monongahela, Charleroi, Wintersville, Mingo Junction, and Follansbee are among the places affected by the alert. The following highways are included in this: Pennsylvania’s Interstate 70 between Miles 16 and 34…and between Miles 40 and 47. Pennsylvania’s Interstate 79 between mile markers 34 and 54.
“Keep a close eye on the weather situation and be on the lookout for potentially dangerous weather conditions,” advises the weather service. In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. When traveling, slow down and give yourself more time.
