Recently, comedian and talk show presenter Conan O. Brien suffered a devastating back-to-back loss when both of his parents passed away within a few days of one another.

Ruth Reardon O. Brien, 92, passed away on December 12 and Thomas O. Brien, 95, on December 9. According to US Weekly, both passed away at their Brookline, Massachusetts, home.

According to Peoplesaid, the couple had six children and had been married for 66 years.

According to People, Thomas O. Brien was the first director of the infectious diseases section at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was well-known for his work in the study of antibiotic drug resistance.

Conan, 61, told the Boston Globe in an article published on Thursday that “my father was proof that there is no such thing as perpetual motion, despite what science has said.” My dad was always on the go. And everything, everything, everything piqued his interest.

O Brien attributed his exposure to legendary comedians such as the Marx Brothers to his father.

He told the Globe, “My dad was usually the funniest guy in the room.” His entire body would tremble when he laughed, and he would practically embrace himself.

Ruth Reardon O. Brien practiced law in Boston at the Ropes & Gray firm. At the firm, she became the second female partner.

On December 18, there will be a funeral for both of them.

The 97th annual Academy Awards will be hosted by Conan O. Brien on March 2. The comedian is hosting the event for the first time.
