Prepare yourself if you currently have a YouTube TV subscription. The cost is going to increase significantly.
The Google-owned business revealed on Thursday that its subscription service will now cost $82.99 per month, an increase of 14% or $10.
Current subscribers won’t see a change in their bill until January 14; new subscribers will pay the increased charge right away.
According to the New York Times, YouTube stated that the primary cause of the price increase was the growing expense of content.
In a message to subscribers, the firm stated, “We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this has an impact on our members,” according to The Hill. We are dedicated to providing you with features that are revolutionizing live TV viewing, such as limitless DVR storage and multiview, as well as support for YouTube TV’s extensive on-demand movie collection and variety of content.
The business also stated that customers who were on a trial subscription or paying a discounted rate would not be impacted until the conclusion of the promotional period.
When YouTube TV first launched in 2017, it cost $35 a month. In 2019, it increased to $50 per month, and in 2023, it reached $72.99.
According to the New York Times, the service will not be introducing any new channels as part of the price rise. At the moment, it provides more than 100 cable and traditional network channels, a DVR service, and six accounts for a single family.
