A recall of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips was recently elevated to the highest risk level by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Frito-Lay, a Texas-based corporation, first declared a recall of the chips on December 16 due to the possibility that they contained unreported milk allergies.

In an enforcement report released on Monday, the FDA announced that it has escalated the recall to Class I, which indicates that there is a reasonable chance that using or being exposed to a product that violates the law would result in death or serious adverse health effects.

The chips were supplied to distributors and retail establishments in Oregon and Washington in 13-ounce bags. They would have been on sale as early as November 3.

A UPC code of 28400 31041, a manufacture code of either 6462307xx or 6463307xx, and the fresh date of 11 FEB 2025 will all be shown on the front of the recalled bags.

As of yet, there have been no reports of allergic reactions to this product. There is no recall for any other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes, or variety packs.

Frito-Lay Consumer Relations can be reached Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST at 800-352-4477.
