A 20-year-old woman was killed last week when the car she was riding in collided with a tree, and Pennsylvania State Police are looking into the incident.

According to the York County coroner’s office, Amelia McEvoy, of Hopewell Township, passed away at the scene of the crash at 10:52 p.m. on January 17 in Springfield Township.

At 9:12 p.m., police were called to a single-vehicle collision with entrapment near Seaks Run Road and Susquehanna Trail South.

According to police, McEvoy was the front-seat passenger of a blue Chevrolet Tracker that had collided with a tree when they arrived on the scene.

According to the police, a passenger in the backseat was seriously hurt and sent to the hospital. It’s unclear how severe their injuries are.

Prior to the collision, the Chevrolet Tracker was traveling south on Susquehanna Trail South. According to the police, a car merged into the southbound lane and began to pass another car while it was traveling north on Susquehanna Trail South.

According to the police, in order to avoid colliding head-on with the northbound passing car, the Tracker veered off the road and struck a tree.

According to authorities, the northbound car kept going north when the Tracker struck the tree on its passenger side.

Two cars and their drivers who witnessed the collision are being sought by police. One was the car that had just before the collision been passed in the northbound lane.

The white SUV in the accompanying photo, which police claim left the site before troopers could talk with its driver, is not thought to be the suspect car.
