The city of PhiladelphiaFollowing their defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now dealing with three new ailments. Against the Eagles, quarterback Justin Fields, outside linebacker T.J. Watt, and cornerback Donte Jackson were all injured.
In the team’s victory over the Cleveland Browns last week, Jackson worsened a back issue he had previously sustained. Despite spending the entire week practicing, he was only able to play one quarter before leaving the game. Jackson sat out the remainder of the game as James Pierre played.
According to Watt, he rolled his ankle, and Mike Tomlin, the head coach, stated it was a low ankle issue. It appears that the worst was averted because the X-rays came back negative. Although Watt might still miss time due to the injury, it is unlikely that he would sustain a serious injury that would keep him out of the game for the remainder of the season.
Finally, Fields had an injury to his abdomen. Although he was promptly called out, Fields did not return to the game following his single run early in the first half, which could indicate a wide range of injuries.
The injuries to wide receiver George Pickens, defensive end Larry Ogunjobi, and safety DeShon Elliott continue to be concerns for the Steelers.
