Pittsburgh –George Pickens, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ standout wide receiver, is probably going to miss Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Mike Tomlin announced.
Pickens was limited in his participation on Friday due to a hamstring injury sustained during Thursday’s practice. He felt considerably better after practice as a result, and the Steelers had originally intended to use him on a pitch count during crucial situations like third downs and the red zone.
But Pickens had a rough pregame workout, and the injury turned out to be far more serious than the Steelers had previously believed. A grade 2 hamstring strain was confirmed by MRI, and the condition is expected to last many weeks.
“As we sit here, George could be classified as doubtful,” Tomlin added. As usual, we will proceed with our regular process. When it comes to availability and, of course, the caliber of that involvement, we will allow participation serve as our guide.
When asked if he would consider Pickens out more often than in, Tomlin admitted that there was a remote possibility he would play. According to Tomlin, Pickens’ ailment will be treated game-by-game rather than as a long-distance target, just like all other injuries this season.
This implies that Mike Williams, Ben Skowronek, and Scotty Miller will have more opportunities to demonstrate their abilities with the Steelers. Additionally, Pittsburgh may try to upgrade one of its wide receivers—Brandon Johnson, Jamal Agnew, or Quez Watkins—from their practice squad.
