Following a groin injury sustained during practice this week, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been placed on injured reserve. Anderson may make a comeback in the playoffs if necessary, but he will miss the remainder of the regular season. The matching move was made to make room on the 53-man roster for defensive tackle Montravius Adams.

Anderson was listed as a limited participant on Friday’s injury report and was doubtful for the team’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Due to the injury, he will now be sidelined for at least the next four weeks.

After losing Troy Fautanu for the remainder of the regular season in Week 3, the team signed Anderson. While recovering from surgery for a dislocated kneecap, Fautanu has a remote possibility of making a comeback during the playoffs.

Spencer Anderson is the starting backup on the active roster while Anderson is out, but the Steelers may try to activate one of the true tackles, Doug Nester or Dylan Cook, from the practice squad to play.
