Mike Williams, a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was shut out once more against the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite Calvin Austin III’s injury, he only played 17 snaps that day, but he doesn’t give a damn.
Williams used Instagram to send a straightforward and direct message that said, “We’re winning.” That demonstrates Williams’ lack of tolerance.
Williams has only had one goal in the team’s four games. That one target, of course, was the touchdown he caught against the Washington Commanders to win a close game against a strong opponent. It’s not as though Williams hasn’t accomplished anything while playing for the Steelers.
Teams nearly always move to his side and play a variation of Cover 2 to remove the moonballs when he is off the field. This creates opportunities for the running backs, Pat Freiermuth, and Calvin Austin III in the center of the field.
So far, Williams hasn’t had much of an effect, and the Steelers are hoping for more for a fifth-round pick. They must, however, provide him with opportunities to make the plays for which he was hired. The Steelers haven’t needed it in recent games, but that will happen eventually.
