The Pittsburgh Steelers will be watching the quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class to see if anyone makes sense. Even though there aren’t many first-round options, at least one might catch their attention later in the class.

The Steelers will probably hold off on selecting a quarterback until at least the third round due to value and other requirements. Who might that be? Will Howard of Ohio State is now a day-two candidate and is probably going to be selected in the third round after starting to move up the boards.

Howard is a player that makes a lot of sense for the Steelers, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac, who would not be surprised if the team selected a quarterback in the middle rounds.

“I would be shocked if they would commit a No. 1 pick to a quarterback this year,” Dulac added, albeit that may be an exaggerated statement. However, if I saw a quarterback selected in the third round who they believe may be the man behind Justin Fields, so to speak, I wouldn’t be shocked. I’ll tell you this: during the past three days, I’ve heard about Will Howard as a fascinating passer and runner.

Howard was a multi-year starter at Kansas State before transferring to Columbus. The Buckeyes’ offense fluctuated throughout his season, but with Howard’s performance in the College Football Playoffs, they emerged as a formidable force.
