The city of PhiladelphiaDespite their Sunday loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, the Pittsburgh Steelers have secured a berth in the AFC playoffs with a little assistance.
Pittsburgh needed one of two things to happen on Sunday night in order to secure a postseason berth after the Miami Dolphins’ loss to the Houston Texans in the early slate. The Indianapolis Colts had to lose to the Denver Broncos, or the Steelers had to defeat the Eagles.
The former was not the case. The offense of Pittsburgh, who was without George Pickens, was unable to match the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and Saquon Barkley. Pittsburgh dropped to 10-4 overall after losing to the Eagles 27–13.
But Pittsburgh received some help in Denver while the Eagles and Steelers faced off in south Philadelphia. The Broncos defeated the Colts 31–13 after overcoming a deficit in the second half. The Steelers earned a wild card berth in the playoffs as a consequence of that outcome.
There is still a chance to win the AFC North. The Steelers can secure a top-four seed in the AFC playoffs and win the division outright when they play the Baltimore Ravens the following week. Additionally, it would guarantee them a postseason home game at Acrisure Stadium.
Next Saturday, the Steelers and Ravens will play at M&T Bank Stadium starting at 4:30 p.m. FOX will broadcast the game.
