Penn State has already dominated its season schedule and dominated Michigan State (55-0) and No. 7 Nebraska (31-7) to begin Big Ten play. At all ten weight classes, the Lions have demonstrated such depth and skill that it was only a slight letdown to lose two straight fights to the Cornhuskers. Penn State has outscored its opponents 355-16 through eight dual meets thus far, pitched four shutouts, and given up three or fewer points in seven of the eight games.
According to the most recent NWCA Coaches Poll, Iowa is 8-0 and barely ahead of David Taylor’s Oklahoma State at No. 3, Ohio State at No. 4, and Northern Iowa at No. 5. The Hawkeyes play No. 4 Ohio State in a crucial dual this weekend after defeating No. 9 Illinois 28–6.
Michigan is 4-2 and has lost to Maryland (19-18) and most recently, No. 8 Minnesota (25-10), in two of its last three duals. For Penn State wrestling fans looking for a solid side-by-side comparison, the Wolverines take on Nebraska at home this Friday night.
