This is the next target in Penn State’s shot pursuit of transfer portal wide receivers.

This week, on Wednesday and Thursday, Justin Bowick, a 6-4, 199-pound big-play threat at wide receiver for Ball State, will be in Happy Valley. The story was first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, but Bowick basically confirmed it when he reposted it on X.

Bowick will have two more years of eligibility at his future destination because he kept his redshirt as a junior this season. During his first two seasons at Eastern Illinois, he caught 43 passes for 709 yards and eight touchdowns.

Bowick, a native of Powder Springs, Georgia, finished the season with 20 receptions, 383 yards, and three touchdowns in just four games. It wasn’t until October 19 that he made his season debut.

Bowick had only five catches and 64 yards in his first two games back, possibly still getting used to a new playbook. He blasted for eight receptions, 171 yards, and a touchdown against Miami (OH), one of the top teams in the Mid-American Conference. He kept up the impressive stats with seven receptions for 148 yards and two scores against Buffalo a week later in a thrilling 51-48 overtime loss.

Bowick had at least one reception of fifty yards or more in each of those game-changing performances. Bowick’s career average is 17.3 yards per catch.

Although James Franklin’s Nittany Lions haven’t made much of an impression on the transfer site so far, this might have a big impact on the offensive end.
