The conference media announced Tyler Duzansky, a redshirt junior long snapper for Penn State, as a third-team All-Big Ten member on Tuesday. While the public recognized junior running back Nicholas Singleton (as a returner) and redshirt freshman kicker Ryan Barker as honorable mentions, the coaches recognized Duzansky and Barker as honorable mentions.
Only four players received unanimous placement from coaches and the media, making the All-Big Ten special teams honorees far less certain than the offensive and defensive lists announced Tuesday. Both parties selected Iowa returner Kaden Wetjen, USC punter Eddie Czaplicki, and Michigan kicker Dominic Zvada to the first team.
Zvada, a transfer from Arkansas State, won the Big Ten Kicker of the Year award for Michigan after going 17 of 18 on field goal attempts. He had a 56-yard long field goal.
The Big Ten Punter of the Year was Czaplicki, a transfer from Arizona State. With a long of 62 yards, he averaged 48.5 yards per boot for the Trojans.
Jonathan Kim of Michigan State was selected for the second team at kickoff, and Drew Stevens of Iowa was selected for the third team. Both decisions were made by consensus.
Ryan Eckley of Michigan State was selected by the coaches as the second team at punter, although the media ranked him as the third team. Rhys Dakin of Iowa, on the other hand, was selected as the second team by the media and third by the coaches.
William Wagner of Michigan, Luke Basso of Oregon, and Hank Pepper of USC were selected to the coaches’ first, second, and third teams, respectively, at long snapper. Duzansky completed the group, Iowa’s Luke Elkin made the second team, and Basso was named to the media’s first team honoree.
As the starting long snapper for Penn State, Duzansky is in his second season.
