Thanks to several really great athletes, many of whom will eventually play in the NFL, Penn State advanced to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Although he hasn’t made his official declaration, Abdul Carter is anticipated to be selected among the top five. The tight endIn the first round, Tyler Warren might land.Despite suffering a season-ending injury in September, Kevin Winston Jr. is anticipated to rank among the best safeties in the 2025 class.
Prior to Penn State’s first-round matchup with SMU, Drew Allaran declared his intention to forego the NFL draft and return for the 2025 campaign. That bodes well for the offense the next season. But after their run in the CFP, may the Nittany Lions lose another talented player to the NFL?
Will Nick Singleton be included in the 2025 draft class alongside Carter, Warren, and others? During Penn State’s pre-Orange Bowl press conferences on Saturday, the subject was raised.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Singleton stated. I’m still concerned about having a strong season finale. We have the opportunity to compete for a national championship, something we haven’t done in a long time. And I’ll decide at the end of the season.
Over the past three years, Singleton has been one of the Nittany Lions’ two standout running backs. Together with Kaytron Allen, the former Governor Mifflin standout has been explosive and exciting, making them maybe the best tailback combo in college football.
If he decides to leave, Singleton is currently ranked by ESPN as the fifth-best running back in the 2025 NFL draft class. Singleton is ranked in the second or third round by ESPN as a No. 67 overall talent. He is ranked lower than Ashton Jeanty of Boise State (No. 4 overall), Omarion Hampton of North Carolina (No. 37), Kaleb Johnson of Iowa (No. 39), and Quinshon Judkins of Ohio State (No. 53).
One of the main reasons Penn State is so close to the national championship game is Singleton. This season, Singleton has contributed 39 catches for 342 yards and five touchdowns in addition to rushing for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns.
In order for the Nittany Lions to defeat Notre Dame in the CFP playoffs on Thursday, Singleton will need to perform exceptionally, and as he stated, that is his only focus. However, Singleton, his parents, and James Franklin all recognize that he will soon have to pick a choice.
Franklin stated that Singleton is attempting to make a decision with his family. Franklin stated that there had been numerous discussions over Singleton’s future.
It goes without saying that we would adore his return. However, Franklin stated, “We’ll do everything in our power to get him drafted as high as possible if he chooses to come out.” We would be happy to have him back if it was only because Penn State was being avaricious. But in the end, I want him to act in his own best interests.
Soon enough, we will learn Singleton’s choice. And ideally, Penn State won’t find out until after the Jan. 20 national championship game.
