One of Pennsylvania’s best prospects and a Central Catholic star, Xxavier Thomas, officially became a Nittany Lion on Wednesday after joining Penn State’s 2025 recruiting class.
On the morning of National Signing Day, Thomas became the second prospect to sign with Penn State. Matt Henderson, a four-star tight end for Virginia, was the first.
In the 2025 recruitment cycle, Thomas, a three-star defensive back, is ranked as high as the eighth in-state prospect and the 47th cornerback, according to on3.
As the Vikings get ready to compete for the PIAA Class 6A title, Thomas has been a standout player for Central Catholic for a number of years.
In Central Catholic’s victory over State College in the PIAA quarterfinals, Thomas recorded two interceptions. In the victory over North Allegheny in the WPIAL final, he caught a touchdown pass. As a returner, the track and field standout has continuously been a spark on special teams. Additionally, Thomas has led Central Catholic in the locker room.
“He’s incredible in many ways,” Central Catholic coach Ryan Lehmeiert told PennLive recently. X is a man who sets a good example. We discuss the importance of supporting your statements with deeds. And that guy appears when the lights come on.
Terry Smith, the longstanding cornerbacks coach at Penn State and a native of Pittsburgh, was the main recruiter of Thomas. Smith played a key role in the 2024 recruiting cycle for two Central Catholic players: linebacker Anthony Speca and wide receiver Peter Gonzalez. It’s Thomas now.
Thomas said that he had a major role in my decision to commit. He introduces men to the league. He has a lengthy history at Penn State. Penn State football is his lifeblood. I desired to participate in that.
