The food court, the butter sculpture, and, of course, the animals are some of the Pennsylvania Farm Show’s primary draws.
From January 4–11, the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg will be packed with almost 6,000 animals.
One of the reasons is that on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., Central Pennsylvania Animal Action will be at the main entrance of the complex, displaying signs and distributing literature about what they claim is animal abuse in the agricultural sector.
According to the group’s press release, the animals are compelled to attend the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show, where many of them will spend their final days in strange places with thousands of people and loud noises. These animals are not regarded as unique beings deserving of enjoying their life as they like.
The group’s spokeswoman, Karen Mazich, stated that they expect ten to fifteen people to take part in the nonviolent demonstration. According to her, some members will come from Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley.
“We do have pamphlets that we hand out as people walk by, and we hold our signs,” she said. We will make an effort to educate people about general farming methods and animal agriculture if anyone expresses interest in speaking with us.
According to Mazich, using a nonviolent method is the most effective way to educate others.
We don’t engage in conflict. “We’re happy to talk to people if they want to,” she stated.
