The state’s Department of Revenue claims that thousands of Pennsylvanians received inaccurate tax forms in the middle of January.

Approximately 240,000 1099-G tax forms were printed with erroneous numbers and distributed to taxpayers on or around January 24, according to the government. On tax returns, the forms are used to disclose state income tax credits, refunds, and offsets.

According to spokesman Jeffrey Johnson, taxpayers who applied for a carry-forward credit were impacted by the problem, since the amount was mistakenly doubled.

According to the department, most forms were sent to online accounts, and as of today (February 3), taxpayers should start seeing new forms show up in their online accounts. Johnson stated the updated papers will be mailed to the remaining 2,000 taxpayers who requested paper forms.

According to a statement from the department, we sincerely regret any difficulty caused and invite anyone who was impacted to get in touch with us with any inquiries. All things considered, the problem will be resolved in a little more than a week. Taxpayers should have enough time to file their 2024 taxes before the deadline thanks to that.
