After the Department of State confirmed the totals submitted by all 67 counties, Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt certified the results of the 2024 general election on Wednesday.

The DOS reports that over 7 million Pennsylvania registered voters cast ballots in the election, representing a statewide turnout of around 77%.
On Monday, the DOS declared that it had finished two mandatory audits of ballots from the general election, confirming the results’ accuracy.
With 19 electoral votes, Pennsylvania was a crucial component for presidential contenders, and both Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump spent millions of dollars campaigning around the state. With 50.37% of the Pennsylvania vote, Trump defeated Harris by a margin of 48.66% to win the presidency.
Republicans also won every statewide race for a row office, and the legislature’s political composition remained unchanged, with Democrats controlling the state House and Republicans controlling the state Senate. GOP opponent Dave McCormick defeated U.S. Senator Bob Casey in his attempt for a fourth term.
Pennsylvania’s certificate of ascertainment, which formally documents and reports the results, must be signed and issued by Governor Josh Shapiro by December 11 in accordance with the federal Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022. Following that, on December 17, the Electoral College convenes in Harrisburg to cast its votes for the president and vice president.
