In the offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers will try to make progress at wide receiver.Pittsburgh seems to have made it very obvious, and that space needs to be redesigned whether it is through the draft, a trade, free agency, or a mix of all three.
Cooper Kupp, a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, stated during Monday’s locker room cleanup day that his future with the organization is uncertain. Could the Steelers be a team that would want him if he were traded?
Kupp remarked, “Who knows what’s going to happen? I have no control over that. And we’ll see how it turns out. What that will look like, or anything similar, is beyond my clarity. I would certainly love to be in Los Angeles, but I’m not sure what that would entail.
If the Rams decide to cut Kupp, it will probably be because they believe he is getting older. Kupp will be 32. When healthy, Kupp continues to perform at a high level, but the Rams or any other team interested in trading for him would need to restructure his contract.
The Rams could simply modify Kupp’s contract to reduce the cap impact and dead money on their end, so it is not entirely crazy to think they could attempt to move him. As it is, the contract is not really tradeable. The Steelers seem like a team that would be very interested in him if he were available.
